1. How Does Bi-Directional Net-Metering Work in MP?
When you install an on-grid rooftop solar system in Madhya Pradesh, your conventional unidirectional energy meter is replaced by a smart bi-directional net-meter sanctioned by MPMKVVCL (Bhopal) or MPPKVVCL (Indore).
During bright daylight hours (9:00 AM to 5:00 PM), your solar panels generate peak electricity. Your household appliances consume what they need, and any excess units are instantaneously fed back into the DISCOM grid. The net-meter runs backwards, banking every exported kWh unit at a 1:1 parity.
2. MPMKVVCL Solar Net Metering Application Procedure
Maxira Solar's liasoning department interfaces directly with your local DISCOM sub-division (Zone office) in Bhopal, Indore, or surrounding circles:
1. Load Feasibility Check: Submission of application along with existing sanction load certificate.
2. Transformer Capacity Verification: Verification that local Distribution Transformer (DT) capacity does not exceed 85% solar penetration limit.
3. Meter Testing & Calibration: Bi-directional smart meter procurement and laboratory calibration at DISCOM NABL-accredited test bench.
4. Physical Commissioning & Synchronization: Official energization ceremony witnessed by Junior Engineer (JE) and Assistant Engineer (AE).
3. What Happens to Excess Solar Units at the End of the Year?
Under the Madhya Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (MPERC) Rooftop Solar Regulations, unutilized energy credits are carried forward month-to-month until March 31st of each financial year.
At the end of March, any remaining surplus energy credits are purchased back by MPMKVVCL/MPPKVVCL at the average power purchase cost (APPC) tariff rate, credited directly to your electricity bill.
